Handcrafted Food Miniatures

In Nyonya culture, labor is love. Beautiful "kebaya" outfits are intricately hand embroidered; delicate beaded slippers are individually threaded; world-famous dishes like laksa are made from a myriad spices ground in a pestle & mortar. Behind each item is the story of the artisan, and of love, sweat & tears.

This Lunar New Year, we celebrate this Nyonya heritage of handcrafting by releasing our limited edition jewelry: miniature laksa bowls and pestle & mortars painstakingly handmade down to the tiniest detail. We worked with the talented Malaysian artist Hooi Yin over half a year and several iterations to produce these delicate yet life-like food art — a labor of love. Due to the effort of producing each piece, Hooi Yin was only able to make ten of each type.
