Homiah’s Story

Homiah means "to live the good life", expressing love and care, often by cooking for someone.

Homiah began in the 1940s in Penang, Malaysia, where my grandmother Nonie was a famous cook. Today, I personally craft Homiah’s products based on Nonie’s recipes using premium natural spices. To me, Homiah's mission is more than about food: it is about the ability of food to comfort and connect. Thank you for joining me on an exciting journey!

Homiah’s batik-inspired dinner napkins will infuse your home with scenes of growing up in Southeast Asia — palm trees in the sun, “kampung” houses, the smell of grandma pounding spices. These napkin designs were hand-painted by a local Malaysian artist, and then printed & stitched on 100% cotton fabric by local women tailors in Thailand.

HOW SPICY IS IT?

All our products are only mildly spicy! You’ll feel a small kick if you don’t generally eat spicy food.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS ALLERGEN-FREE? VEGAN?

All our products are gluten-free, dairy-free, grain-free, soy-free, peanut-free, palm-oil free, keto and non-GMO. We use unrefined coconut sugar. We also use high oleic sunflower oil, a paleo-friendly oil that's high in monounsaturated fats, or omega-9 fatty acids. There are no preservatives, colorings or additives in our products.

HOW ABOUT SHELF STABLE?

Yes, our products can be stored at room/ ambient temperatures. Once opened, we recommend refrigerating for maximum shelf life.

WHAT SORT OF PROTEINS AND VEGETABLES CAN I USE?

Literally anything. There are recipes behind each packet that recommend a range of options including chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, seitan, and different vegetables.You can also check out our recipe page for more detailed recipes and new ideas.
